Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget plot

"This time, they're breaking in!"

Ginger has escaped from Mrs. Tweedy and has finally found her dream: a peaceful island for the entire herd of chickens, far from the dangers of the human world. When she and Rocky hatch a little girl named Molly, Ginger's happy ending seems complete. But on the mainland, the entire chicken species faces a new, terrible threat. To counter this, Ginger and the other chickens risk their own hard-won freedom. This time they don't have to escape, but break in.

23 years later, there is a very unexpected sequel to the great stop animation film Chicken Run. A very charming film full of humor, drama, romance and adventure with references to many famous film titles. Not much remains of that 23 years later. Above all, the surprise and charm is gone, which makes the original film so good. We get some of the same, because the makers want to keep the formula a bit. And as is often the case with sequels in this genre, more attention is paid to jokes and less to characters. Many characters are recognizable, but are mainly caricatures of the past without being really fun or good. They want to target a young audience, but that wasn't there 23 years ago.

It still works here and there and the film is not too irritating, but overall this is an unnecessary sequel to a nice film.

Nice film about a group of chickens who live peacefully and in complete freedom on a small island. An unexpected and late sequel to Chicken Run. The story itself is on the poor side. But the film again contains a number of fun action scenes and the stop-motion looks nice again. Entertaining enough for a generous 3.0 stars.

Compared to the first Chicken Run, this film has a lame story.

But if you turn your brain off and just enjoy the beautiful stop motion, it's quite enjoyable.

“With the craftsmanship of stop-motion animation and a surprisingly straightforward yet nostalgic storyline at the ready, 'Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget' had the visuals, the character arcs and the story to deliver the signals needed were to indicate and achieve a plausible return to form. Ultimately, although not flawlessly successful and not the expected disappointment, this sequel entertains, but misses opportunities."

An average 6.5/10 from me, a gift because of the nostalgic memories I have with the first part. Slightly blander, visually cleaner and lighter (truly a Netflix production), and it lacks the bold intensity and adult drama and catchy humor that made the first part so unique. Unfortunately it turned out to be an average entertaining sequel. Too bad, considering the direction of the story is also a suitably classic formula that offered many possibilities. But yes, still fun to watch with the kids.
