The Windermere Children: In Their Own Words plot

When the Second World War and thus the Holocaust came to an end 75 years ago, some 300 young Jewish orphans were taken care of from the summer of 1945 in a shelter in the English Lake District. The grand project on the shores of Lake Windemere was set up to offer the unfortunate children a new life. In this documentary you will see the testimonies of the Jewish survivors, who managed to build a new life, but never forget it.

A documentary that reveals so much more than the film of the same name (or vice versa). Both are often offered at the same time (either on DVD or recently on TV) and flow well into each other. Interestingly here is that you have some testimonials from those who have experienced it. Here and there also some authentic images or photos.

Still, the documentary gave me a slightly better feeling than the movie. The facts are briefly explained, but are accurate (which is not entirely illogical). The film takes it all a bit more superficially.

But it remains a fascinating story that was not very familiar to me.
