The Siren plot
1980 in the oil metropolis of Abadan, Iran's largest port city. Fourteen-year-old Omid is playing soccer with his friends when a rocket hits a nearby refinery. In no time, this attack by the Iraqi army plunges the city into chaos. At home, Omid catches a glimpse of his older brother boarding a transport bus that takes fighters to the front. His mother has already packed some things and is ready to flee with the family, but Omid refuses. He and his grandfather are left behind. Too young to take up arms himself, he becomes the breadwinner for a group of others left behind and now united in need.
