Club Zero plot
Quirky teacher Novak takes a job at an elite school. A special bond forms between herself and five of her students, particularly with regard to their dietary patterns. Their mutual relationship takes a dangerous turn.

An elite school appoints Ms Novak [Mia Wasikowska] as a teacher of “conscious eating”, a lesson cycle based on mindfulness “for mind, body and the environment.” Novak manages to persuade five students to become members of 'Club Zero' and has an increasing influence on the students' actions and thoughts. The screenplay by Hauser and Géraldine Bajard oscillates between satire, comedy and thriller, but never convincingly explains why these intelligent young people allow themselves to be persuaded to radically change their lifestyle and ideas.

Nice film about a new teacher who convinces a group of students to eat more consciously. The film is fascinating at times, but also monotonous. The dynamics between the teacher and students are portrayed credibly. The characters themselves remain quite superficial. Depicted fairly tightly.

Not a mainstream film. Some would curse this film with the "W-word" and there may be something to it. A film that shows that far-reaching principles based on pseudo-science combined with a knowledge and power relationship can be a dangerous cocktail.
Delightfully absurd at times, but for others perhaps annoying drivel. The link with Lanthimos is indeed quickly made and that is also why I appreciate this film. Mia Wasikowska did not really stand out for me, the students did. The school and the parents go along very easily with the process despite their slight criticism of their own children, Miss Novak remains somewhat out of the picture as a health guru.
The film has a satirical undertone which keeps it entertaining. The setting and the decoration are sober, a bit sixties seventies too with those bare walls and design furniture. For me certainly successful, but perhaps certainly not for everyone else.
