After twenty-five years, Carlo and Anna's perfect family separates: the children, Alessandra and Emilio, leave home and go to live in the city. Within months, the children, preoccupied with their new lives, are limiting relationships with their parents to a few short phone calls, ignoring relatives' funerals, not showing up for birthdays, and not spending Christmas with the family. .
