Das Mädchen in der Kiste - Wer Tötete Ursula Herrmann? plot
In 1981, ten-year-old Ursula Herrmann disappeared in Germany on her bike home. She was locked in a buried box with a stack of comics and some candy. She was then left to suffocate while her captors attempted to obtain a ransom. In 2010, a neighbor was sentenced to life imprisonment. A conviction based entirely on circumstantial evidence, which many still question. This documentary follows the efforts of Ursula's brother, Michael, in his search for the truth, as new scientific findings cast doubt on the veracity of the conviction.

Normally I am not a fan of documentaries, but this one certainly deserves a positive mention here on MovieMeter. Heavy subject, yes, but in a respectful way the event is carefully presented to the viewer from beginning to end. Recommended! 4/5 stars
