Rock City: The Life We Live plot

A film about 5 idiosyncratic, legendary musicians from the 60s/70s, founders of our pop culture, who are now well into their seventies. They perform old hits from the past for a large crowd of loyal fans. In addition, however, they also make surprisingly beautiful new music in which the art of aging predominates.

Went here with my father, he wanted to see it and didn't feel like going alone. Nice documentary though. I had expected a more informative one, about the rise of music in The Hague specifically. That was a setback to that extent. The documentary is really about the old artists from back then and how they live and deal with aging now (and especially how radio stations and fans deal with it too). Sometimes those boring talking heads (I don't really like them) and sometimes just a nice recording camera. All in all, I have not been bored either, there are some fascinating pieces in it and the documentary gives a good picture of older artists, although those people do not really interest me. Also gained quite a few tips in terms of music to delve into. 3.0*.

I enjoyed this very lovingly made film. Funny, but also very moving. A wonderful portrait of a number of early music heroes from The Hague and their passion for music. Which is so much bigger than the craving for material things. A film that makes you guess what life is really about. I went myself with my children aged 16 and 20 and they also thought it was a great film. So it can also inspire younger people.
