Body Parts plot

"Bravery, betrayal, and baring It all."

How is the naked female body portrayed in films? In Hollywood, the male gaze has been dominant since time immemorial. This documentary shows the evolution of sex on the silver screen from a neglected perspective: that of the woman.

Guevera-Flanagan examines the development of sexual morality in Hollywood, looking for explanations and showing the changes brought about by actors like Rose McGowan and Rosanna Arquette becoming key figures in the #MeToo movement and its underlying campaign to empower women, but in fact protect all actors against unwanted sexual harassment. For those with a little knowledge of film history, the first half contains no revelations, although Jane Fonda offers valuable insights into the changing sexual morality in Hollywood since the 1960s. It gets a lot more interesting when Guevara-Flanagan focuses on the recently introduced intimacy coordinators and other people (including a special 'wig maker') who often unnoticed by the viewer contribute to what we see on screen. The film world has changed permanently, as this documentary makes clear. And only the sexual predators have gotten worse. Good!
