We don't often see a film by a Greek director on Netflix. The green sea is largely set in a barren Taverna in a coastal town somewhere on the Greek mainland (or on an island, that remains unknown). Anna arrives one day in a daze and can immediately start in the kitchen of Raula, a dominant man. There she appears to blossom in the kitchen, but seems completely unaware of who she is and where she comes from. This leads to clashes with Raula, who would rather smoke at a table than roll up his sleeves. A recognizable image for anyone who has ever visited Greece. Director Angeliki Antoniou doesn't give much away and tells Anna's story that slowly unfolds at a pleasantly calm pace. Don't expect fireworks or big stories, but The green sea still captivates.

Nice. I really agree with Brandt's message. I don't remember seeing a Greek film before, so that was already interesting. The film tells the story of the main character at a leisurely pace, who doesn't know who she is, but who is a good cook. Although the cooking scenes aren't the most stylized I've seen, it's always nice to have a film with a focus on food.

A reasonable film, which is not spectacular in any respect, but which also does not really show any weaknesses and with which you can pass the time well. 3*.
