Corsica: Mountains in the Sea plot

Corsicans are known for being independent, just like their island's flora and fauna. The island protects itself thanks to its rugged landscapes and legendary macchia, the dense aromatic shrubs and undergrowth that overgrow entire villages if left unchecked. Butterflies, nuthatches, bats, turtles, salamanders, lizards and hybrid pigs, among others, feel at home in Corsica. The mountains were the original habitat of all European mouflons. Corsican red deer were hunted to extinction and then replenished from neighboring Sardinia.
