My Best Friend's Exorcism plot

"True friendship is worth going to hell and back."

It's 1988. College students Abby and Gretchen have been best friends for a long time. But after a night of nude swimming goes horribly wrong, Gretchen begins to behave differently. She's moody, irritable, and bizarre things keep happening when she's around. Abby's investigation leads her to some surprising discoveries. By the time their story reaches its terrifying conclusion, Abby and Gretchen's fate will be determined by a single question: is their friendship strong enough to defeat the devil?

uh.

You wouldn't think that a director who has mainly focused on television would now come up with a masterpiece, but this film is very sad. Too bad the career of Fisher, once started so fresh and has now lowered herself by playing in this kind of knickknacks.

Obviously a very funny title and the poster also makes a fairly dowdy impression, but don't be misled. Comedy as unfun as here is rarely redone these days. It takes a very long time on a girlfriend who gets lost and from whom as much humor as possible has to be squeezed. Just not from Fisher, who just looks grumpy.

I don't blame her, I'd be really cranky too if this was the movie I was in. Director Thomas doesn't put out a leg either and lets the story, like the cast, do all the work. He would think that easily cleaned up, but I don't think of it that way. Boring editing, weak editing and a camera that never does anything special. If the story itself has little to tell, the film quickly falls flat.

I just can't get over how little effect the film has. Totally no interest from the direction it seems, but also the horror towards the end is especially bland. The only thing that still works is that the environment of the story should still be smooth and that the acting can be done. Thomas can still benefit from this, because he does nothing himself. Always a pity.

Nah, not a successful comedy-horror, the black humor was completely lost, the film might have been worth the effort, but it didn't work out at all. No, this was actually a reasonable failure. A 3/10 fzo.

2.06 is of course very dramatic. I had a great time with this movie and can actually appreciate the mockery of exoricism movies. From what I read above it is a book adaptation. These are of course seldom better than the source material, but since I don't have that reference I don't mind that much. The film doesn't take itself seriously and that just helps a lot. It is easily digestible and the ladies are also having fun. Other than that, it's not very memorable, but it kept me busy tonight.
