The Munsters plot
"Prepare for the strangest love story ever told."
Lily is a typical 150-year-old vampire in love in search of the man from her nightmares. Until she sets her eye on Herman, a green experiment two meters high with a heart of gold. It's love at first sight when these two creeps fall for each other in Transylvania. Unfortunately, things don't go smoothly in the graveyard, as Lily's father, the Earl, has other plans for his beloved daughter's future. And the bumbling Herman is not one of them.

Director Rob Zombie takes a striking path with his latest horror film, which primarily appeals to a young audience. In every respect, The Munsters is considerably more childish, simpler, and therefore more clichéd than his previous projects. Fortunately, Zombie proves to be a highly skilled craftsman when it comes to evoking a colorful and creepy atmosphere, with effectively extravagant staging and detailed sets. Unfortunately, the unambitious and rather simple content is essentially child's play and therefore not worthy of all the visual splendor in the background. Moreover, the overly exaggerated acting and infantile humor quickly become tiresome, and once it becomes clear that Zombie shows little intention of making a big splash, The Munsters falls somewhat flat.
