I Used to Be Famous plot

"This is your time."

Vince used to be in the hippest boy band there was. Now the troubled former pop star is alone and desperate. Dreaming of a comeback, he begins performing on the streets of Peckham, hoping someone, anyone, will listen to him. An impromptu jam session with Stevie, an autistic young drummer with an incredible gift for rhythm, sparks an unexpected friendship between the two misunderstood musicians. Together they form a unique bond through the power of music.

Reasonable film about a former member of a successful boy band who is down. A fascinating main character, which could have been a bit more, but otherwise this is just a great feel-good movie. Sometimes a bit forced, but it looks easy and Ed Skrein manages to convince in the lead role.

Yeah. No. Nice little film with the main achievement that the autistic Stevie is actually played by an autistic musician. But otherwise it is not funny enough as a comedy and as a music film there is not enough good, catchy music.

Various situations in the film offer enough space for all kinds of jokes, but they simply forgot to write them in. What remains is mainly annoyance: Stevie's mother is an annoying sulk who bitches without even discussing the how and why of her behavior.

In addition, the script is extremely flawed. The choices the main character makes are presented as a choice of one or the other, but one need not necessarily exclude the other. A bit of childish stupidity.

Saw this sweet video yesterday and had a great time. Although I expected a bit more from it after seeing the trailer. It just didn't go deep enough. I really loved the title song. I think there could have been a little more humor in it. The lead actor's vocals were not very good. How annoying was that mother, by the way. But other than that it's just a good movie.
