In the 1960s in Vereeniging, South Africa, protests took place against discrimination against the black population. However, the resistance was violently crushed. Years later, a white photographer visits the monument that serves as a memorial to the massacre. A black woman living there fascinates the photographer and the two grow closer. Their romance evokes conflict and painful memories of a shared past.
