People who watch Sadako's cursed video suddenly die within a day. Meanwhile, the curse has mutated and is spreading at great speed through the internet. Ayaka Ichijo is an extremely smart college graduate who is now on television. When her younger sister watches the cursed video for fun, Ayaka tries to unravel the mystery of the cursed video before it's too late.

The latest addition to the Ringu series is not as boring as its predecessor, but these types of films are no longer exciting, atmospheric and/or innovative. Director Hisashi Kimura works some humor into it and adds some interesting concepts, making it watchable overall. Yet they no longer have a valid reason to continue producing these types of projects and the uninspired approach oozes from it. Bad computer effects, bad actors and poor tension build-up predictably predominate in Sadako DX. All books have now been made into films, so it is now better to put this series on hold until someone steps up to conduct a worthy continuation again.
