Adalbert Stifter was an Austrian writer from the Biedermeier. The widespread picture painted of him to this day is that of a dull, stuffy Biedermeier poet about flowers and beetles, whose books have nothing to do with today's world. In reality, Stifter was an author whose life and work was defined by a penchant for the outrageous, the pathological, and the bottomless. In this documentary, filmmaker Kurt Palm tries to break through the prejudices about the writer.
