Totsukuni no Shôjo plot
Long ago, the world was divided into 2 mythical countries, one at home and one abroad. People feared abroad, since here lived monsters that could transmit curses. One day, such a monster finds a little girl on the border between these countries and decides to take care of her. This girl named Shiva becomes fond of the monster and decides to call him Master. This is the story of two beings who are as different as night and day, yet gradually find that they have more in common than the outside world would lead them to believe.

hauntingly beautiful,
Just like for Onderhond, 1 still (actually even just the poster) of this movie was enough for me to know that I had to watch it. The whole look (dark fairy tale) in combination with the animation style is really magical. The result is a sort of Angel's Egg meets Pan's Labyrinth. In my opinion a more than successful combination.
It always remains to be seen whether the film can remain interesting for the entire duration. Okay, it's a 70 minute video, but a lot can go wrong in that time. However, it soon became clear Kubo was brooding something special here. The animation style, the atmosphere, the characters, and the (small) story really fit together perfectly. Moreover, it never stays monotonous, because occasionally animated highlights such as deze scene.
Soundtrack also wonderfully complimentary and never too present/absent. Yes, this is really a very special video that definitely deserves more attention. Although it is still difficult to recommend such a film. Black Math perhaps?
