Based on a true story. The underlying story is interesting. But that's about it for me. I compare it to books: for me there are crime novels that are easy to read and then you also have something like literature. For me, this film falls under the latter: good for a film festival but not for me. Just too boring, performed towards a documentary. The protagonists portray the characters well and the soundtrack is also fine, even unusual. But as a whole it doesn't score enough for me.

Mark Frame [Joel Edgerton] is the pseudonym of an undercover agent in a complex operation set up by several Australian police forces. He is at the center of an effort to get Henry Teague [Sean Harris] to confess that he is responsible for the kidnapping and murder of a boy who went missing 8 years ago. The premise and talent of the two protagonists form the basis for what should have been an excellent crime thriller. Edgerton and Harris also do a fine job, but Wright fails to create any tension or suspense and unfortunately opts for a dramatic and less effective approach.

Slowly built up but ultimately very exciting thriller about an unsolved Australian murder case. The plot is ingeniously put together, but some things are perhaps too detailed and especially cumbersome, which is at the expense of viewing pleasure. Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris are very good in the lead roles. The nervous, uneasy character Harris portrays here is particularly memorable. Furthermore, the uneasy atmosphere and the constant sense of threat are well captured. So worth it, but not equally exciting everywhere.
