Viddana plot

Stanislaviv (today Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine), 1868. Doctor Anger's wife is killed in a major fire. He remains behind with his daughter Adelia. His neighbors were also victims of the fire. The doctor decides to take in orphaned girl next door Stefania as a maid. Adelia and Stefania grow up together. When Adelia marries the artist Petro, Stefania becomes their domestic help. Things get complicated when Orthodox priest Yosyf returns to town years later. Yosyf, now married, used to be Stefania's lover.
