Malaysia, 1958. With the emergence of black and white television as alternative entertainment and the release of foreign films, the Malaysian film industry begins to decline. The owners of the Jalan Ampas Studio, the Shaw Brothers, are closing the business, leaving many artists out on the street. Filmmaker P. Ramlee and his best friend Jamil Sulong then host a variety show to raise money for fellow artists and friends who have lost their jobs.
