Aileen O'Hara [Emily Watson] is initially happy that son Brian [Paul Mescal] has returned from Australia to the dreary, stereotypical fishing village where he was born, until it turns out that he is trying to enrich himself illegally. Aileen tells a lie to the authorities to protect her son, but within the close-knit village community more people know what happened. As long as no one opens their mouth, Brian is safe, but in the meantime tensions within the village are increasing. A somewhat cliché setting in a hackneyed scenario where the sun never shines, where there is rarely a smile and where the course of the story is quite predictable.

Reasonable film about a young man who returns from Australia to the village in which he grew up. The entire fishing village and community are well portrayed and the film also has a good, somewhat menacing atmosphere. The acting is also good. However, it takes far too long before anything happens and not everything is worked out satisfactorily.
