When Will drives his soon-to-be ex-wife Lisa to his in-laws' house, she mysteriously disappears during a stop at a gas station. In a desperate attempt to find her, Will calls in both the local police and Lisa's parents. When Will suddenly becomes the prime suspect himself, he takes matters into his own hands.

I do have a soft spot for vigilante films where husbands or fathers hunt down their family's tormentors, breaking the law and flouting all the Geneva Conventions. Gerard Butler is at his best in such a role and does not disappoint. Fairly average, but very enjoyable and action-packed work.

Entertaining thriller. The story is not original. The first part is taken one on one from the Golden Egg by Tim Krabbé. That in itself is the best part of the movie. Goodman knows how to convey the protagonist's ignorance and desperation. The second part, which deviates strongly from the aforementioned book, is a lot less exciting. The denouement is also disappointing. Butler is comfortable in his role and lifts the film to a higher level. Not great, but doable. 3.0/3.5

Barking Butler.
The quest of a maddened husband after his wife suddenly disappears at a gas station? Why not, there are good movie examples in which this fact works. But where in the beginning you still have something like 'better stolen well...' that feeling quickly disappears. This is not Spurless, The Vanishing or the equally exciting Breakdown. No, the nice and mysterious beginning turns out to be mainly a peg for Gerald Butler, who takes the law into his own hands when he stumbles upon a meth lab, where his wife is being held captive. Why right there? Well...
It sounds like a decent B-movie and it is, but real entertainment is hard to find. Even during the film's somewhat tense intro, there are too many improbabilities for a story that takes itself extremely seriously. It's actually nice when the filmmakers decide to let go of all the brakes and Butler goes on a revenge campaign. With his barker in hand, the good citizen turns into John Rambo himself. His desperation during the opening part manages to hold the attention, but the further the film progresses, the more laughable his character becomes.
