Stone Pillow plot

Social worker Carrie Lange befriends a homeless woman named Florabelle. She does this in an effort to better understand the plight of homeless women living on the streets. Florabelle gives her the necessary education on how to survive in the chilly streets of Manhattan.

My four stars actually only apply to Lucille Ball's phenomenal acting in this typically American TV production. Typically, through the cold settings of a messy New York as we all know it. And typically because of the urge to tear up and the too-easy happy ending, which obscures the hopelessness but gives the audience who usually looks away a good feeling. My consolation is that perhaps Ball's acting will stick - the woman who is as happy as a child with the nothing she has left. Wow, what a role!
