Years after the tragic death of his sister Anna, wealthy eighteen-year-old Finn is repeatedly plagued by nightmares and demonic visions. What his family dismisses as psychotic breakdowns from childhood trauma feels increasingly real to him. He can no longer pretend it's all in his head as the horrific events around him begin to escalate. Together with his best friend Lena, Finn tries to unravel the terrible secret that lies in his past and behind the seemingly inconspicuous facade of his family.

A lousy score on IMDb Movies, an acceptable score here on MM... although it could be a bit higher. Most voters criticize the acting, but that isn't actually that bad. That Tijan Marei had a certain charm. The story remains mysterious for a good long time and leans more towards sci-fi than horror. Towards the end, the story unleashes into a bizarre, suspenseful climax with a few decent effects. The final shot is superfluous. 6.5/10

Quite shocking.
Just in the wrong ways. If this is the standard these days for horror films being ported exclusively to Netflix, I really do fear for the future. Although it could also just be on the German side, because this is certainly not the first German horror production to eventually go seriously off the rails.
What starts out as a decent teen horror film ultimately ends up being mostly nonsense. I don't see that often. Directors trying to get the job done by mixing as much as possible with the concept. It does make it distinctive, but only in the completely wrong way. The reveal in this film is so ridiculous that it undermines just about everything. You can't really unravel a mystery, because the answers themselves are simply totally illogical.
The acting is actually quite decent and the production design is also quite good. None of it is brilliant; it is not as if truly great craftsmanship went into the film. However, it is often quite watchable and occasionally features a striking moment. That is where the compliments end, though. I found it to be mostly a large dose of nonsense that takes itself very seriously, but is actually very difficult to take seriously. Quickly forgotten.
