Twist à Bamako plot
Sixties. Samba, a young socialist activist whose father is an established trader in Bamako, meets Lara during one of his missions in the jungle. Lara uses Samba to flee from her family, who forcibly want to marry her off. While Lara discovers a new life in Bamako, Samba begins to question some of his hierarchy's decisions after his father is imprisoned. The two meet again one night at one of Bamako's many dance clubs and vow never to leave each other again.

Well staged and performed love drama with a strong social and political slant.
Several themes are discussed, such as the preservation of one's own values and also the attempts by manufacturers and traders to prevent the continuation of colonization methods, but idealism is rarely a match for the drive for profit and power.
And ultimately, that good intentions in a new creation, in this case the establishment of a new, independent state, are not readily available for application.
