Attica plot
In the fall of 1971, tensions between inmates and guards at Attica State Prison are at an all-time high. On the morning of September 9, everything comes to a head when one of the largest American prison riots ever breaks out. It was a five-day conflict, in which 1,200 prisoners took matters into their own hands and 42 people were taken hostage. The documentary 'Attica' explores this tragedy and sheds new light on the ongoing violence and racism of the prison system. Even 50 years later, the urgent need for reform is emphasized.
