A blood-painted mural is found on the wall of a tunnel at the Pasila train station in Helsinki. This mural features the face of Finland's most famous serial killer Lasse Maasalo, accompanied by the text "Let's make the world a better place". The painting is linked to a vote circulating on social media, where people can vote for people without whom the world would be better off. When three of the most voted for disappear and the first body is found, brilliant detective Kari Sorjonen is asked to return to work investigating the hate crimes. Sorjonen is forced to face the toughest case of his career; he must find the killer who calls himself The Judge, just as he struggles with his own sanity.
