I don't think this movie won an Oscar for best actor or actress. The pastor acted as solid as a pulpit and the story was as captivating as a Sunday mass... 5.2 on imbd is more than enough

The best thing was the music, nice and loud and heavy, my thing...

The directing duo Bridget Smith and Samuel Gonzalez Jr. Both have a background in editing, but are joining forces for The Retaliators to make an official directorial horror debut. It results in a film that starts off quite dramatically in tone and presents itself more as a crime drama than action horror. It takes a while before the full introduction is done and, by horror standards, extensive time is taken to color all the characters. However, the Gear brothers' screenplay takes on quite a bit of weight by introducing various characters who do not always add much to the story. After a full hour, the stops open and the viewer is treated to a deliciously violent and brutal spectacle. On a psychological level, The Retaliators is not a very original film, but the action-packed last half hour guarantees enough entertainment to take the whole thing a step higher. However, the somewhat long and, above all, unnecessarily serious run-up does not utilize all the potential fun. By the way, I thoroughly enjoyed the song "21 Bullets", which was made especially for this film.

Pretty cool.

The film starts off quite cliché and immediately reminds me of something that should resemble Wrong Turn or something like that.
Then we encounter a priest whose daughter is going to a ball. She's in exactly the wrong place and time and is chased by a man named Ram. Ram was quite convincing as a psychopath.

Guilt gnaws at John Bishop, and he's bent on revenge. Then he's approached by a police officer who initially knows little. The outcome, however...

...I barely saw that coming. The concept is strong and well-conceived. Mentally torture serious, albeit not prematurely released, criminals until they resemble zombies. The execution, however, falls just short of four stars. It all feels a bit like a stereotypical B-horror with little subtlety.
But it doesn't get in the way of fun at all.

Quite a good but substantial snack.

3.5*
