Britney vs Spears plot

"No more secrets. No more silence."

The world knows Britney Spears as a singer and performer, but in recent years her name has been publicly linked to the controversial conservatorship of her father James Spears. Journalist Jenny Eliscu and filmmaker Erin Lee Carr tell the explosive story of Britney's life and her public and private quest for freedom. Through interviews and documents, they paint a portrait of the pop star's journey from girl next door to woman trapped in fame, family and her own legal status. Britney Spears herself did not cooperate with the documentary.

Erin Lee Carr is a longtime Britney fan and Jenny Eliscu a former journalist for Rolling Stone who discovered the superstar's kindness when she first met Britney Spears. Not surprising that this biased documentary consists of gossip, poorly substantiated arguments based on unnamed sources and quotes taken out of context from court documents that confirm what the two makers want to confirm: that Britney is a prisoner of a group of former confidants that used their 'conservatorship' of Britney to make millions. Some people pass by who once worked with Britney and of course do their best to be as good as possible for the daylight. There are also many scenes in which Carr and Culotta simply read court documents. Yet another documentary that tries to make a profit from the personal vicissitudes surrounding the Spears family. Quite interesting, this portrait of a pop star who is trapped in fame, family and her own legal status, but the elaboration leaves something to be desired. Journalist Jenny Eliscu and filmmaker Erin Lee Carr think they're just a little too great and the interviewees involved don't exactly appeal to the imagination. The lack of cooperation from Britney Spears herself is initially compensated reasonably well by an objective approach, but in the end the documentary does not have a lot of interesting things to report and things just go on and on.
