"Life is a journey."
When retired cardiac surgeon Ben Givens is told he has terminal cancer, he takes his beloved dog back to his childhood home in eastern Washington. He is determined to end his life on his own terms. Good film about an elderly man who has cancer and goes for a walk in the mountains with his dog. A beautiful, modest film with a fine role by Tom Skerritt, whose character you slowly get to know. The film has a leisurely pace and contains some beautiful shots of the landscape. Certainly not too light in tone, but not sentimental either.

In any case, the pictures of the landscape in which Skerritt ends up are dazzlingly beautiful, and perfectly appropriate with the autumn weather outside the door. He himself once again puts down a beautifully complex character, someone who doesn't say much but occasionally comes out surprisingly, and is thus colored more and more deeply. Nice work, and a great ending.
Skerritt is now 89, and some time has passed since his old-timer character in the first Top Gun. But he hasn't forgotten his trade yet, he'll show that here. Nice dog too - I should not see so many films with such dogs in them, soon I will suddenly have one of my own.

Quiet and understated drama. The story is not very special, but it is reasonably developed by Chiro, who does not make it too dramatic, but does make the viewer feel for the struggling feelings of the main character, who is strongly portrayed by Skerritt. Not much happens, but the film still keeps you interested until the end. Unfortunately, the typical American ending is predictable. Visually very nice with beautiful images. 3.0/3.5
