The couple Sigvard and Isabella are unhappily married. Sigvard is a traveling salesman and Isabella works as a secretary at a theater agency that is looking for artists for a revue. Gunnar Lanner, an artistic son of a fur trader, goes to the theater agency's office and tries to demand money from Isabella for her fur coat, because she hasn't paid for it in several months. But when Gunnar checks in with Isabella, she instead thinks he's applying for the revue. He therefore receives a number and is called into the office of the theater directors.
