The Case of Sally Challen plot

In 2010, Sally Challen smashes her husband in the head over lunch at the kitchen table. At the end of the ensuing trial, the mother of two is found guilty of murder by the jury. However, Sally was also a victim of the compulsive control that her husband exercised over her, according to family and friends. The defense therefore appealed and pleaded 'manslaughter' instead of 'murder'. For the first time, coercive control was presented to the court as a mitigating circumstance.
