The Disappearance of Willie Bingham plot
Willie Bingham is the first man to undergo a radical new justice program under the state's revised stance on the death penalty. Under increasing pressure from public opinion, the state has introduced "Progressive Amputation" as a controversial punishment rather than the death penalty. The procedures, which are carried out live for the families of the victims, are carried out over several years and only stop at the request of relatives. Willie is told he has been selected after killing an innocent little girl while under the influence. He would rather be executed, but he has no choice.
