Besides the fact that it isn't really a science fiction film, I didn't really think the film was that great. But he's not very bad either. But there are also some really irritating parts in it, when "Isabel" freaks out a bit, you get the feeling of, pfff, come on....
But you should see it more, as a film about people who use drugs, and why, and etc... Then you will probably understand the film a little better.

In itself perhaps a confused film with the double meaning about the supposed reality or the perfect world where there is no hunger or poverty. I will leave it open as to what is real, although it seems clear that the film is simply a drug film, but one with an original twist. The film also has a beautiful message about living in a world where everything is perfect or a world where anything can happen and you have no control over it. Owen Wilson and Salma Hayek complement each other well. Hayek is always a pleasure to watch and Wilson manages to positively surprise in a solid, convincing role. He usually plays comedy films and the actor doesn't interest me much. 6.5/10

First let's get some things straight.
First of all, the genre of 'science fiction' is absolutely inapplicable - in no way does the film have anything to do with that. And secondly, all comparisons with The Matrix are completely flawed, perhaps only based on the role of crystals in the story. Too bad, because that's not what it's about at all.
So things are not going well for Greg (Wilson), he is no longer completely in reality but in a dream world and there he encounters Isabel, who turns out to play a major role in his psychosis. And that's Hayek - you would almost wish something like this happened to you, if it weren't for the fact that Greg is not alone in the world, and his daughter Emily (Cooper) is also looking for him.
Visually it is very well developed, with the shadows of reality mixed with fantasy so that with some effort you can see both stories parallel - and by the way, that is also a clever reference to how a psychosis often works, and even while you are there it certainly registers that something different is happening than what you are guided by at that moment. It's also nice that everything isn't exactly chewed out for you - although that may have cost the film a lot of points, given the low scores from the Matrix camp who keep blabbing about their red and blue pills. Look further.
