"The truth behind the secret."
Jung-in is a successful lawyer in Seoul. Ten years ago she fled her parental home after being abused by her father. Since then she has had no contact with her mother, because she did not protect her at the time. When Jung-in sees on television that her mother, who now has Alzheimer's disease, has been arrested on suspicion of multiple murder, she decides to return to her hometown to defend her mother.

I have always had a soft spot for courtroom dramas, because in those films new information can emerge from every nook and cranny and I enjoy seeing how the puzzle fits together. In that respect, this film is right up my alley. The story, inspired by true events, features the necessary twists and turns that gradually build the tension.
On top of that, there is excellent acting across the board, particularly by Hye-sun Shin as the lawyer who stands up for her estranged mother. In short, a fine, entertaining film.

A good courtroom drama; a girl has to unravel who poisoned the guests and what her mother is suspected of. Although it is pleasant to watch (thanks to the beautiful Shin, among others), there are some rough edges, and the plot is once again made unnecessarily complex with all sorts of vested interests and side issues that distract more than they keep you engaged.
