Freedom of Movement plot

In the 1960 Olympic marathon in Rome, Ethiopian Abebe Bikila won Africa's first gold medal barefoot. He thus became a sports legend and a symbol of Africa liberating itself from colonialism. The artists place this in a different context amid the rationalist architecture of Rome, as a new competition with refugees and immigrants claiming 'free movement of people', ie being welcome in another country.
