Stylistically, it resembles an asylum production, a parody, a fairy tale film on RTL-4. Not surprising when you consider it's produced by Hallmark Entertainment. So be warned! *1.5

A simple, yet at times charismatic film adaptation of the iconic legend. Director Pierre Gang tells his story with great detail and precision, but unfortunately emphasizes the romance more than the horror. Towards the end, the infamous horseman appears on screen for a few minutes, leaving the rest of the film with characters doing their utmost to capture the attention of others. Brent Carver throws himself wholeheartedly into his role and does a commendable job, but receives little support from his fellow filmmakers, including the director himself. A real atmosphere is never built, and visually, the action appears relatively sparse, though thankfully it doesn't last too long.
