Bad, even for a Disney movie. A stupid story and weak acting with weak dialogue. I've never been a Disney fan but this has to be the worst Disney I've seen. Don't waste your time on this one!

Disney is a production company that occasionally delivers very expensive projects, and sometimes also extremely cheap projects. This film clearly belongs to the second category, because there is little in this film that really looks grand or expensive. More of a quickly shot film to quickly showcase some emerging talent, but not much more.
The pity is that the film has quite a nice concept. I don't blame the film for not being able to come up with new superpowers (Marvel and DC have long since dispelled that hope), but I can always appreciate the variety of powers. It's a bit of a shame that the teenagers already realize their powers in just one sequence. Messy.
In terms of messiness, it doesn't just stop at that piece. The constant refusal of surprise and complexity makes for a safe film that still manages to have plot holes. Motives are often missing, but the film also packs in a bit too much hope in terms of the number of characters. It is not feasible to fit all that nonsense into a 99-minute film, and not here either.
Furthermore, it all happens rather hastily and quickly. Everything has to be done as quickly as possible, it seems. Let everyone act for a moment, give everyone a sentimental scene and then quickly move on to the next phase. Development between characters is touched upon but never discussed. Worrying for a film that partly depends on the development between the characters.
Still, it is quite entertaining and the playing time is not unnecessarily long, in fact too short. The fair amount of action scenes ensure that the film never really drags and I can certainly appreciate that. Fortunately it is never boring and not completely unstructured either, but nevertheless it needed a better scriptwriter and progression. Not that it matters much to Disney, but then we as an audience certainly don't have to swallow it.
