Nos ili Zagovor Netakikh plot
In the late 1920s, the Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich begins an operatic adaptation of Nikolai Gogol's short absurdist story "The Nose". It is about a man whose nose is cut off, after which the nose takes on a life of its own. Meanwhile, Joseph Stalin begins to apply increasingly strict censorship in the Soviet Union. Slowly but surely Shostakovich sees many of his artist colleagues disappear.
