Sakura plot

There is a happy family consisting of parents and their three children: Hajime, Kaoru and Miki. Hajime is the first son and he is handsome and popular. Kaoru is the second son and he is an ordinary university student. Miki is the youngest child in the family. She sees Hajime as her role model. One day, Hajime gets into a car accident, which has major consequences.

Remarkable.

This looks like a sweet and soft Japanese drama, and this is also the first part. And therein lies the interesting angle of this film. Because the second part is seriously darker, and that dark side just springs from that over-lovely. A nice twist that I don't think I've seen often before.

Make sure it's all fairly by-the-number. The cinematography is pleasant but nothing surprising, the soundtrack of the same sheet of pants. Acting does stand out positively, but what do you want with such a cast. Nagase, Terajima and Komatsu in leading roles, is hard to beat.

The second part is a lot more interesting, and really manages to save the film. A somewhat difficult film to digest, although fortunately the relativistic ending manages to dampen it a bit. It's not very often that I'm surprised by Japanese dramas, this one is a positive exception.
