Onze Jongens in de Jungle plot
On November 25, 1975, Suriname became independent and no longer belonged to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This also brought an end to the military presence of the Dutch army. From 1945 about 1000 boys, often just 18 years old, left for Suriname to fulfill their military service there with the TRIS, the then military force that stood for peace and security. Deployment overseas leaves indispensable impressions on deployed soldiers. Whether serving far from home in former parts of our kingdom or more recent missions, contributing to peace and security. Director Jelmar Hoekstra takes the viewer along to a special piece of Dutch and Surinamese history. A time document about the Netherlands in the Tropics.
