An old man has been working alone for nearly half a century on an island full of birds in the middle of the ocean. One day he receives a message that his post is being lifted. I really like these kinds of films, although it is a bit less after the storm. Still fun and worth watching.

Good camera work, soundtrack and this special man in special circumstances is well worth following.

Freek de Jonge does that very well.

I especially appreciate that this film was still made in 2020. These kinds of surrealistic films in which very little happens are very rare nowadays because there is only a small audience for it and therefore little money can be made from it. An observation of Freek de Jonge as a bird watcher on a small island. But as a film, it unfortunately does not amount to much. The story is mainly too mediocre and not interesting enough to keep you interested in a feature film for a long time. It also lacks an arc of suspense and something to work towards. And when something finally happens, it also quickly dies out. A film that I think I will soon forget.
