The film takes a slightly different direction than I initially expected, but that doesn't necessarily make it a good film. It's all very stereotypical and simplistic, and I didn't get much enjoyment out of it. It might also have been more enjoyable if the driver had been a naive GreenLeft idiot instead of a white man who's anti-foreigner. The film moves along a bit, and the ending is a surprise, but that's it. 1.5 stars.

I'm surprised by the bad reviews here. I thought it was a fine film. No, not a masterpiece or Oscar-worthy, but certainly better than the average Dutch film. There's criticism that the issue is approached simplistically. I call it realistic, because such issues are approached simplistically by the far right (or far left), and that's what you see. There are no caricatures. I was a bit worried about that at first. Granted, for the first 10-30 minutes you might be watching a caricature, but that quickly changes. No one in this film is 100% good or 100% bad. I found the character development convincing and fluid. You don't see someone's opinion suddenly change and veer to the other side. There's nuance, and the film paints shades of gray. I don't understand some reviews that suggest the film sides with, for example, the racist truck driver, or that the racist driver suddenly becomes completely pro-Moroccan... This is precisely not the case. What I love about the film is that it captures and portrays it without ultimately judging. It leaves it up to the viewer to make their own mind up, which isn't easy because you're forced to see the good and the bad from both sides. Both actors deliver excellent performances. The other actors are unfortunately a bit of a sideshow, but because of their small roles, it doesn't detract from the film as a whole. It's impressive how the story's punchline is only revealed at the very end. Don't expect an action film, and don't expect humor (because there really isn't any). It's a truly realistic Dutch road movie with elements of thriller and drama. If you're in the mood for that, the film won't disappoint. 3.5 stars.

For a Dutch 'TV' movie, this one is quite decent.

Don't expect a masterpiece.

Still, the story is quite well-told. A bit like a road movie.

I thought the scene where they're swimming in the sea and the driver doesn't see what's happening 10 meters behind him with his truck really detracted from the film. It was completely unbelievable.

They should have simply handled this differently.

Just look at it once and it will be fine.
