Tiresome replay of The Game trying to piggyback on ''hip'' horror trends to spice things up. It's as if Wernick thought that if he put both Escape Rooms and Social Media/vlogging and the whole The Game concept in one movie, it would probably be something. Unfortunately, all the mutual elements are really poorly developed. The Escape Room has a rather boring design, the whole torture part is very well-behaved if you compare it with genre-mates. And then the whole Livestream too, with those fabricated reactions that supposedly have to come across as natural. Pretty cringy.

Didn't like the ''The Game'' twist at all. I don't often complain about the realism in simple genre films like this one, but this all came across as very easy going and lazy. As if it had been glued on for a while afterwards. I also have no idea how you explain that girlfriend who almost drowned, but oh well. 1.5* for some funny Russians.

It's a fast paced movie. The pictures of Moscow and the ladies are beautiful. It just had little to do with horror. It's all very nice indeed. This film is significantly less than Saw (2004) - MovieMeter.nl, Cube (1997) - MovieMeter.nl and Hostel (2005) - MovieMeter.nl. The film lacks tension, depth and good direction. At the end of the movie you might think "I've seen this movie before, but without all those smartphones".

The ending ruins the movie completely. What a retarded bunch of gladiolus you are as friends and girlfriend of the protagonist. Of course you know while watching that this is going to happen, but you fuck with the psyche of a person so much that you can just wait for it to go completely wrong. And of course it goes wrong. That Alexei should never have been waiting for him alone like this. Then you simply ask for it.
The big loser in this case is not the protagonist, but everyone around him who made him go through this and are responsible for this dead one.

The movie itself was entertaining. You know that the boy in the lead plays a role for his viewers, so you can easily see through such an annoying act. The rest of the group also felt okay. Have you ever seen flatter characters in this kind of movie? All in all, entertaining, nice and coarse and atmospheric. Just that ending.... It's just stupid.

2.5*
