Deutschland '89 - Countdown zum Mauerfall plot

The breaking of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989 came as a complete surprise to many. This documentary examines ten political and social events between November 1988 and November 1989 that ultimately led to the fall of the Wall. Like a countdown clock, they made sure that the opening in the wall got bigger and bigger, until it was unsustainably large. The historical analysis and interviews with experts are complemented by diary excerpts and letters from those directly involved, expressing their fear and hope, right up to the crucial moment when Germany became one again.
