Ze Noemen Me Baboe plot
Documentary that tells the life story of the Javanese Alima. On the run from a forced marriage, Alima finds work as a babu (nanny) for a Dutch family in the 1940s. She travels with them to the Netherlands, where she is influenced by Indonesian students who dream of an independent Indonesia. When she returns, her Dutch family ends up in a camp during the Japanese occupation. As a result, Alima loses her family, work and home. She falls in love with independence fighter Ribut and becomes pregnant. When Riboet is killed in a police action after the capitulation, her family wants her to marry her brother-in-law 'honourably', but Alima chooses to go her own way as a single mother with her daughter in independent Indonesia.
