Nice.

Not that this is the most interesting band to make a movie about. Just like the motto 'sex, drugs & rock 'n roll' itself, the film also gets stuck on the superficial level of exuberant misbehavior and parties that have gotten out of hand. It must represent the charm of the band, because otherwise the members have very little insight to provide and apart from two or three dramatic moments, they have not really experienced much. When even an entire scene is devoted to a random encounter with Osbourne, it is clear that there had to be gathered to fill a film.

Not a big deal, because the extravaganza is delivered quite catchy (albeit very well-behaved), much of it thanks to Tommy Lee, who was the only one who could count on my sympathy anyway. Played with passion by Kelly, who succeeds best in bringing his character to life.

For a biopic of a glam rock band like this one, you would expect a bit more audiovisually, but it all remains fairly sober. The drama clearly has to offer a counterbalance, but actually the film works best on the carefree exuberance of the first half.

All in all entertaining, but at the time of writing still a remarkably high average. A dash more rawness (I think of Ex-Drummer) would have looked good on this one, but this is still on the good side. 3*

I was so happy in the early 90s that grunge made its appearance and wiped out the established hard rockers; we were immediately into that shit music and that teased her off. So reluctantly set up the dirt (mainly because of the punk-looking poster). In short: what a stroke of luck. As stale as their music sounds, this film looks so fresh. And so you have a very nice movie with the worst soundtrack ever, which I think is funny.

Atmospheric film at its best. Knew the band by name but that was all. Tommy Lee is of course known as Pamela's husband, but as far as I know. Film for me really top as a film adaptation and biography. I don't know if everything was filmed correctly, but I don't care. The film looks nice and shows how rough their lives were. Drink, drugs, sex and music. Also a few emotional moments and the film succeeded for me. Only remark: actors sometimes didn't come across as rough as perhaps intended. After watching the film, I watched YouTube on a real band and these are really rock, where actors sometimes came across a little softer...

For Netflix movie more than above their average offering...
