Nice film about a young woman who collapses mentally after a few events in her life. Certainly not a clichéd film about schizophrenia. The woman's world is portrayed quite well in itself, but the editing was a bit disappointing, so the film did not run smoothly. Sally Hawkins is doing great.

Some whimsically constructed drama that is actually carried by the strong acting of Sally Hawkins and by the striking drawing of her indifferent surroundings: her mother, her father (the weakling), her lover...

Unfortunately also some minor passages.

Present, past, reality and fantasy intertwine in this daring tragicomedy about Jane [Sally Hawkins], a schizophrenic woman who is still waiting for a call from the man who abandoned her many years ago on the day of her wedding. But Jane is not a reliable narrator and Roberts underlines this with stylized use of colour, restless camera movements and strange camera angles. It therefore remains unclear for a long time what exactly happened. Only the objectively filmed scenes give you certainty about the difference between reality and fantasy. Roberts' screenplay contains a good dose of humor, but especially thanks to Hawkins' excellent acting, it turns out to mix well with serious topics such as mental health and suicide. Thewliss' contribution is quite modest, incidentally.
