Waldheims Walzer plot

Filmmaker Ruth Beckermann was involved in the 1986 protests against Kurt Waldheim, former Secretary-General of the United Nations and then presidential candidate in Austria. Beckermann filmed the demonstrations accompanying the charismatic Waldheim's campaign and combined them with television interviews and news reports into an exciting chronological report that ends with the election itself. The documentary shows how Waldheim brutally counters the accumulating evidence about his involvement with the SS during World War II with counter-accusations, 'alternative facts' and shameless rhetoric.
