The Mercy of the Jungle plot
Sergeant Xavier is a veteran, while Private Faustin is a new recruit eager to avenge the murder of his father and brothers. Both are combatants as combatants in the ethnic conflict in Rwanda. One night, their battalion sneaks out to track down a group of rebels. Xavier and Faustin are left behind as the Congolese militia spreads across the area. The two have no choice but to head west and embark on a long journey through a hostile landscape filled with enemy patrols, wildlife and mercenary-laid mines. Thwarted by hunger and disease, the men must learn to rely on each other's differing abilities to survive.
